Home Office Roundup

By Carissa Parrish

In early March I had a big decision to make, renew my lease or not? I checked out a few apartments and ultimately decided that although I had outgrown my apartment, moving and starting a new job simultaneously would be too stressful and I’d make the small space work. Fast forward a few short days, I found myself like so many, working from home without the equipment or setup I needed to be efficient - or healthy. Looking down at my laptop was only going to work for so long before it became a literal pain in the neck. Being at home full time, with limited space (hello NYC), I scoured the internet for some things to make WFH easier, more efficient, and more fun. There were a few hits and misses. Here are the hits:

1. This great desk that folds up when you don’t need it. Perfect for city people with small spaces who might not need their desk on evenings and weekends.

2. The absolute BEST headphones you will ever purchase! The city can be loud, so can your neighbors and your family. These Bose headphones are one of the greatest investments I’ve ever made. The noise cancelation is a dream with or without music on!

3. A desk chair that is both cute and ergonomic.

4. This phone case from Bonita Semana that will get you excited to answer all those slack messages on the go...

Mind Reader Monitor Stand Riser, Adjustable Anti-Slip, Ventilated Rectangle Metal for Computer, Laptop, Monitor, Black

5. A laptop riser to save both your neck and your eyes from strain. It’s adjustable to fit a variety of chair and desk heights. It’s also ventilated to help keep your laptop cool. Truly a breeze to assemble and take apart, mine even came with me on a month-long road trip!

Anker Bluetooth Ultra-Slim Keyboard (White)

6. A wireless keyboard + mouse. Be kind to your wrists! Create some space between you and your laptop or monitor and keep your wrists supported at the same time. This is my favorite low cost wireless keyboard for use with my MacBook Pro.

It’s super quiet, has great battery life and at about $20, it’s a steal compared to the Apple version that’s nearly 5X the price.

7. A new planner! This Day Designer is an affordable option with all the bells and whistles. It has has daily + weekly + monthly calendars, goal setting pages, room for notes and more! If you’re picky about planners like I am, rest assured this one has it all.

8. A modern chair that matches any decor and can do double duty as a reading chair without the bulk

9. “Sitting is our generations smoking”

- heard that one before? I use this admittedly not so cute (but affordable!) Posture Corrector when I’m working to keep from slumping over. I also use it when I’m cleaning on occasion for a gentle reminder to stand up straight.

10. A cheerful cellphone holder that helps you stay hands free and focused while keeping your phone docked and charged.

11. An essential oil diffuser that changes colors to set the mood and keep you feeling good. I love the light wood version, I think its super chic.

12. A gorgeous, no maintenance, fake 43” Monstera Deliciosa plant to add warmth to your workspace
